Prospect Brandon Nimmo has torn tendon in left foot

New York Metshoutfield prospect Brandon Nimmo has been diagnosed with a partial tear to a tendon in left foot. He was examined this week at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
Nimmo received an anti-inflammatory injection from team doctors and was fitted with a boot, which he is due to wear for 10 days. He will be reevaluated after that period.
Nimmo, 22, hit .269 with five homers and 26 RBIs in 376 at-bats last season, which he primarily split between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas. He had a combined .362 on-base percentage between three minor league levels.
Nimmo was the first selection by the Sandy Alderson-led front office. He was drafted 13th overall by the Mets in 2011 out of high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Nimmo, a left-handed hitter, had been projected to open the upcoming season at Las Vegas.
