Michael Oher’s family, of ‘Blind Side’ fame, helped him celebrate Panthers’ win
Last February, Michael Oher was waived by the Tennessee Titans, one of the NFL’s worst teams, this after getting let go by the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he had won a Super Bowl two years previously. Now he’ll have a chance to win another Super Bowl ring, this time as a member of the Carolina Panthers, who took a chance on the offensive tackle’s ability to protect star quarterback Cam Newton.
Sounds like the makings of a movie, right? If that happens, though, it would only serve as a sequel to “The Blind Side,” the 2009 film which chronicled Oher’s impoverished childhood and adoption by a family in Tennessee, culminating in him becoming a first-round draft pick.
On Sunday, Oher was relishing his season of redemption, following the Panthers’ 49-15 rout of the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC championship game. And it was a moment joyously shared with him by Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, his adoptive parents.st February, Michael Oher was waived by the Tennessee Titans, one of the NFL’s worst teams, this after getting let go by the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he had won a Super Bowl two years previously.
